Check the cause

  1. Visual Inspection: Locate the Wheel Angle Sensor, which is typically mounted on the right side behind the front axle. Inspect the sensor, its mounting bracket, and the tie-rod linkage for physical damage or loose hardware.

  2. Wiring and Connector Check: Inspect the sensor's wiring harness for chafing, and check the connector for loose pins, dirt, or corrosion.

  3. Voltage Testing: Check the sensor's reference voltage, ground, and signal return wire continuity back to the Dash controller.

  4. EDT Tool Verification: Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to monitor the live wheel angle sensor test data and verify if the PVED valve is turning on.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, center the steering, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.

  2. Removal

Disconnect the electrical harness from the Front Axle Steering Sensor. Remove the mounting screws/nuts securing the sensor and its ball-joint linkage to the front axle bracket.

  3. Installation

Mount the new Wheel Angle Sensor to the bracket and attach the linkage. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  4. Calibration

Use the dealer EDT tool to perform a Wheel Angle Sensor calibration. The vehicle profile measurements must be loaded, and the steering valve spool calibration should be completed to set the maximum wheel angle and minimize deadband movement.
