Massey Ferguson 00.00.64 – Dash: Issue With Hydraulic Oil Temperature Signal Voltage (Dash)

The system has detected an abnormal voltage signal (either too high, too low, or an open/short circuit) coming from the hydraulic oil temperature sensor circuit. This prevents the dashboard from accurately displaying the hydraulic/transmission oil temperature.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the hydraulic oil temperature sensor for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the sensor pigtail and check for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Test the signal wire continuity from the sensor connector back to the Dash module. Check for a short to ground or a short to power.

   Measure the resistance across the sensor terminals. If the sensor reads completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted (zero resistance) at ambient temperature, the sensor has failed internally.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the hydraulic oil temperature sensor, typically threaded into the transmission housing, hydraulic valve block, or tandem pump housing.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Place a drain pan underneath to catch any residual hydraulic fluid, then unthread the sensor using a wrench.

   Install the New Sensor

   Thread the new OEM temperature sensor into the port. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not overtighten, as these are often brass or hollow fittings).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

   Clear and Verify

   Turn the ignition on. Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 00.00.64 fault code from the Dash module. Start the tractor, allow the hydraulic fluid to warm up, and verify that the dash temperature gauge reads correctly without the warning light returning.
