Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus, specifically where the dashboard instrument cluster is either failing to send or receive expected messages from other control units (such as the Engine ECU or Transmission TCU).

   Check battery voltage and ground connections, as low voltage during cranking or weak charging can cause CAN bus communication drops

   Inspect the CAN bus wiring harnesses and connectors located behind the dash and under the cab floor for moisture and corrosion

   Check for corrosion, loose pins, or pushed-out wires at the main Dash module connector

   Look for other active codes in the Engine ECU or Transmission TCU to determine if multiple modules are reporting CAN bus errors, which indicates a harness or resistor issue rather than a failed Dash module

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes while working on the CAN bus.

   Access the Dash Module

   Remove the steering column shrouds and dashboard cladding to access the rear of the instrument cluster.

   Clean and Treat Connectors

   Disconnect the main harness from the Dash module. Clean the connector pins thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner. Apply dielectric grease (or Vaseline, a common field fix for agricultural CAN connectors) to seal the connection against future moisture ingress.

   Repair Wiring

   If any chafed wires are found in the harness routing under the floor or behind the dash, cut out the damaged section and solder/heat-shrink new wire to restore the CAN High and CAN Low circuits.

   Test the System

   Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and clear the fault codes.

   Module Replacement

   If the wiring is intact, terminating resistors test good (typically 60 ohms across the bus), and the code immediately returns, the Dash module's internal CAN transceiver has likely failed. The instrument cluster will need to be replaced and reprogrammed by an authorized dealer.
