Massey Ferguson 00.01.4B – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With Hand Throttle Circuit, Open Circuit (Dash)
Issue description
This code indicates that the electrical circuit for the hand throttle (accelerator) potentiometer has an open circuit. The system is detecting a loss of signal or 0 volts from the hand throttle sensor, meaning the connection is broken, unplugged, or the internal potentiometer has failed.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Check the wiring harness leading from the hand throttle lever on the right-hand console to the main cab harness. Look for pinched wires, chafing, or disconnected plugs.
Sensor Test: Disconnect the hand throttle potentiometer. Using a multimeter, check the resistance sweep of the potentiometer as you move the lever. If the circuit reads 'OL' (open loop) or infinite resistance at any point, the sensor has failed internally.
Voltage Check: With the key ON, check the connector at the hand throttle for a 5V reference signal coming from the Dash. If no voltage is present, the open circuit is in the wiring harness between the Dash and the throttle, or the Dash output is faulty.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Sensor
Remove the trim panels on the right-hand operator console/armrest to expose the base of the hand throttle lever.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the hand throttle potentiometer switch.
Replace or Repair
If the wiring harness is broken, repair the open wire using appropriate automotive-grade splices and heat shrink. If the sensor failed the diagnostic test, unbolt the faulty hand throttle potentiometer/control assembly and install the new OEM replacement part.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical plug and reinstall the console trim panels.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and verify the hand throttle operates correctly. Clear the 00.01.4B fault code from the Dash display using the tractor's diagnostic menu or a dealer service tool.
