Massey Ferguson 00.02.3A – Dash: Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor, High Voltage

The control module is receiving a voltage reading from the clutch pedal position sensor (potentiometer) that exceeds the expected maximum threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to power (+5V or +12V) in the sensor's signal wire, an open (broken) ground circuit at the sensor, or an internal failure of the clutch pedal potentiometer itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal sensor for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper that could be shorting to a power source.

   Unplug the sensor and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.

   Use a multimeter to verify that the sensor has a solid ground connection. An open ground will cause the signal voltage to spike high.

   If the wiring is intact, back-probe the sensor's signal wire with a multimeter. Slowly depress the clutch pedal and watch for a smooth voltage sweep. If the voltage is stuck high or jumps erratically, the sensor is internally faulty.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the clutch pedal position sensor (potentiometer) mounted at the pivot point of the clutch pedal assembly inside the cab.

   Remove the Faulty Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the sensor. Remove the retaining screws/hardware and carefully slide the sensor off the pedal pivot shaft.

   Install the New Sensor

   Slide the new OEM sensor onto the assembly, ensuring the mechanical linkage/fork aligns perfectly with the pedal pivot. Secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor and reconnect the battery.

   Calibration (Crucial)

   After replacing the sensor, you must perform a clutch pedal calibration. This teaches the Dash controller the new sensor's minimum (pedal up) and maximum (pedal down) voltage values. This is usually done via the tractor's dashboard diagnostic menu or using an AGCO dealer diagnostic tool.
