Massey Ferguson 00.02.42 – Dash (Instrument Cluster / Dashboard): Service Counter Issue

Issue description

This code is triggered when the tractor has reached a scheduled maintenance interval (such as 250, 500, or 600 hours) and the service counter has not been reset, or if there is a configuration glitch with the service counter memory. It acts as a maintenance alarm rather than indicating a hard mechanical failure.

Check the cause

  1. Verify Tractor Hours: Check the tractor's current operating hours on the dash against the factory-recommended service intervals.

  2. Determine Service Needs: Identify if a physical service is actually due. Common intervals include: Every 100 hours: Air filter inspection, radiator cleaning. Every 250 hours: Engine oil and filter change, fuel filter replacement, transmission fluid check. Every 500 hours: Hydraulic oil and filter change, battery check.

  3. Check Previous Service Records: If the maintenance operations were recently completed but the code is still active, the technician likely forgot to cancel the maintenance alarm and reset the counter.

Repair steps

  1. Perform Required Maintenance

If the tractor is due for service, perform the necessary fluid and filter changes as dictated by the hour meter.

  2. Reset the Service Counter

The warning message will remain active until the control unit maintenance counters are reset. This can be done via the Dash (Setup & Information Screen) or via a compatible diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool or Jaltest AGV) by navigating to the Dash/Instrument Cluster module and selecting 'Maintenance Resets'.
