00.02.48

Massey Ferguson 00.02.48 – Dash: Forward/Reverse Lever Neutral Position Switch Issue (Dash)

Issue description

The system is detecting an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the neutral position switch located inside the Forward/Reverse shuttle lever (often called the Power Shuttle or Dynashift lever). This means the controller cannot verify if the tractor is safely in neutral, which will typically prevent the transmission from engaging or the tractor from starting as a safety precaution.

Check the cause

  1. Check the physical feel of the Forward/Reverse shuttle lever for sloppy movement or failure to click firmly into neutral.

  2. Remove the steering column cowling and inspect the wiring pigtail, looking for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or a loose/corroded connector.

  3. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the neutral switch circuit directly at the lever's connector when placed in neutral.

  4. Verify that the Dash module is sending the correct reference voltage (5V or 12V) to the switch.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts or accidental module spikes.

  2. Remove Column Covers

Unscrew and remove the plastic steering column covers/cowling to expose the base of the shuttle lever.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Locate the electrical connector at the base of the Forward/Reverse lever and unplug it from the main dash harness.

  4. Remove the Lever

Unbolt the retaining screws/bolts holding the shuttle lever assembly to the steering column bracket.

  5. Install New Part

Mount the new Genuine AGCO shuttle lever into the exact column fitment and secure the fasteners.

  6. Reconnect & Reassemble

Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks securely. Reinstall the steering column covers.

  7. Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key on and verify that the Dash recognizes the neutral position (the fault code 00.02.48 should change from 'Active' to 'Stored/Inactive'). Test forward and reverse engagement.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Power Shuttle Lever / Forward-Reverse Column Switch

    3789724M93

Replaces older part numbers 3780596M93, 3780596M94, 3789724M91, and 3789724M92. Fitment is highly dependent on the specific transmission (Dyna-4, Dyna-6, or Dyna-VT) and tractor serial number.

  • Power Shuttle Lever / Forward-Reverse Column Switch (Alternative)

    3787500M95

Specifically noted as the Dynashift reversing lever with brake for 6400, 7400, 7600, 7700, and 8700 series.
