00.02.4B

Massey Ferguson 00.02.4B – Dash: Issue With Hand Throttle Circuit, Open Circuit (Dash)

Issue description

The system has detected an "open circuit" in the hand throttle control circuit. This means the electrical connection between the hand throttle potentiometer and the control module is broken, unplugged, or the potentiometer itself has failed internally, resulting in a loss of signal voltage.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the hand throttle lever on the right-hand console to the Dash controller for pinched, chafed, or broken wires.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the hand throttle potentiometer and check for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture inside the connector. Ensure it is seated tightly.

  3. Perform a potentiometer sweep test using a multimeter to measure resistance across the pins while slowly moving the lever. An 'OL' (Open Loop) or erratic reading indicates internal failure.

  4. Test the continuity of the wiring harness from the throttle connector back to the Dash controller pins to rule out a broken wire in the cab harness.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Sensor

Remove the trim panels on the right-hand operator console to expose the base of the hand throttle lever assembly.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the hand throttle potentiometer.

  4. Remove the Faulty Part

Unbolt the retaining screws holding the potentiometer/switch to the throttle lever mechanism and remove the sensor.

  5. Install the New Part

Mount the new OEM potentiometer in place and secure the retaining screws.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  7. Reassemble

Reinstall the right-hand console trim panels.

  8. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and use a diagnostic tool (or the Dash interface) to clear the inactive 00.02.4B fault code. Test the hand throttle operation to ensure engine RPM responds smoothly.
