Massey Ferguson 00.02.4C – Dash: Issue With Signal From Outside Air Temperature Sensor (Dash)

The controller is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the ambient/outside air temperature sensor.

   Visually inspect the outside air temperature sensor and its 2-pin connector for corrosion, moisture ingress, or backed-out pins.

   Perform a resistance test on the disconnected sensor using a multimeter (should read approximately 5000 Ohms at room temperature).

   Check wiring continuity between the sensor connector and the Dash controller for chafing, breaks, or shorts to ground.

   Verify reference voltage at the harness connector with the key ON.

   Power Down

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to protect the Dash module from voltage spikes.

   Locate and Remove

   Locate the ambient air temperature sensor. Depress the locking tab on the 2-pin electrical connector and pull it free.

   Dismount Sensor

   Unclip or unbolt the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket.

   Install New Part

   Snap the new sensor into the factory mounting location.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks securely into place to maintain its weather-tight seal.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition ON and verify that the outside temperature displays correctly on the dashboard. Clear the inactive 00.02.4C fault code using a diagnostic scan tool.
