Massey Ferguson 00.03.41 – Dash: Tractor Forward Speed Is Too Fast

The system is receiving a signal from the transmission/forward speed sensor that exceeds the expected or physically possible parameters for the tractor's ground speed. This is typically caused by an erratic sensor signal, a short in the wiring harness, or a calibration error.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission speed sensor for chafing, pinched wires, or shorts to power, which can send a high-frequency signal to the dash.

   Disconnect the speed sensor and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.

   Remove the speed sensor and inspect the magnetic tip for a buildup of metallic shavings or debris that can cause erratic signals.

   Verify the dash configuration settings, including tire size and transmission calibration parameters, especially if battery power was recently lost or software was updated.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the transmission speed sensor. Depending on the model (e.g., Dyna-4 vs. Dyna-6), it is typically located on the side of the transmission housing or on top of the lift cover.

   Clean and Test

   Remove the retaining bolt and carefully pull the sensor out. Wipe the magnetic tip clean of any metallic sludge. Reinstall the sensor, clear the fault code from the Dash, and test drive the tractor.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the code returns and the wiring is verified good, the internal hall-effect/inductive sensor has failed. Remove the old sensor and install a new OEM replacement.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the wiring harness, turn the key to the ON position, and clear the 00.03.41 code from the Dash Control Center.

   Test Drive

   Operate the tractor to confirm the speedometer reads accurately and the code does not return.
