Massey Ferguson 00.03.4B – Dash (Instrument Panel / Dashboard controller): Issue With Hand Throttle Circuit, Open Circuit (Dash)
Issue description
The electrical circuit monitoring the hand throttle position has lost continuity. The system is detecting an open circuit, which typically means a broken wire, a disconnected plug, or a complete internal failure of the hand throttle potentiometer track.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Access the hand throttle assembly (component X122) on the right-hand console/armrest. Inspect the electrical connector for disconnected, backed-out, or corroded pins.
Wiring Harness Continuity Test: Disconnect the hand throttle and use a multimeter to check the continuity of the wiring harness between the throttle connector and the Dash/Instrument Panel junction (X55/X132). Look for chafed or broken wires, particularly where the harness routes through the console or armrest pivot points.
Sensor Output Test: Check for a 5V reference signal and ground at the connector. If power and ground are present, the open circuit is likely internal to the hand throttle potentiometer itself.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.
Access the Component
Remove the necessary trim panels on the right-hand console or armrest to expose the base of the hand throttle lever.
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical harness connector from the hand throttle potentiometer switch.
Replace or Repair
If the wiring harness was found to be broken during diagnostics, repair the wire or replace the damaged connector pigtail. If the wiring is intact, unbolt the faulty hand throttle assembly and install the replacement OEM hand throttle.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness and reinstall the console trim panels. Reconnect the battery.
Calibration
According to the Massey Ferguson technician service book, the new hand throttle must be calibrated. Access the tractor's diagnostic tool or the instrument panel's calibration menu and perform the "Calibrating the hand throttle" procedure.
Clear Codes
Clear the 00.03.4B fault code from the Dash module and test the throttle operation to ensure the engine responds correctly to lever inputs.
