Massey Ferguson 00.03.4C – Dash: Issue With Signal From Outside Air Temperature Sensor (Dash)
Issue description
The controller is receiving an implausible signal from the ambient/outside air temperature sensor. The underlying condition is typically an open circuit, a short circuit to ground, or a short circuit to positive in the sensor or its wiring circuit.

Check the cause
Visually inspect the outside air temperature sensor (located in the front airstream near the condenser or inside the exterior mirror housing) for physical damage from debris.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the sensor for chafed wires, broken insulation, or corrosion inside the connector pins.
Use a multimeter to check the wiring between the sensor connector and the Dash module for continuity, verifying there is no short to ground or short to positive voltage.
Measure the resistance across the sensor's two pins (e.g., 5000 Ohm baseline depending on ambient temperature). If it reads completely open or shorted, the sensor has failed.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and remove the key to ensure the Dash module is powered down.
Locate the Sensor
Find the sensor in the front grille/condenser area or mirror housing.
Disconnect
Carefully depress the locking tab on the electrical pigtail and disconnect the wiring harness from the sensor.
Remove
Unclip or unbolt the faulty sensor from its mounting bracket.
Install
Snap or bolt the new replacement sensor into the exact same mounting location, ensuring it is exposed to ambient airflow but protected from direct impact.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the weather-seal clicks securely into place to prevent moisture ingress.
Clear and Verify
Turn the ignition on. Use a diagnostic tool or the dash interface to clear the 00.03.4C fault code. Verify that the outside temperature is now displaying accurately on the dash and that the automatic climate control is functioning properly.
