Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Access Diagnostic Mode: Use the tractor's display panel (via the 'Diagnosis' or 'Diagnostic Codes' button) to verify if the code is active or stored.

  2. Visual Inspection: Locate the air brake pressure sensor (typically mounted on the pneumatic trailer brake valve block or the air reservoir tank). Inspect the sensor housing and the electrical connector for physical damage, moisture ingress, or severe corrosion.

  3. Wiring & Continuity Test: Disconnect the sensor. Using a multimeter, check the wiring harness for continuity between the sensor connector and the Dash controller pins.

  4. Voltage Check: Check for a short to ground or a short to VCC (battery voltage) on the signal wire. Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage (usually 5V) and has a solid ground.

  5. Sensor Bench Test: If the wiring is intact, back-probe the signal wire while the sensor is plugged in. Apply air brake pressure and monitor the voltage; if the voltage does not change smoothly or reads 0V/5V constantly, the sensor is faulty.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

    Before removing the sensor, safely bleed all compressed air from the tractor's air brake system to prevent injury.

  2. Disconnect Battery

    Disconnect the negative battery terminal to protect the Dash controller from accidental shorts during repair.

  3. Remove the Sensor

    Unplug the electrical connector from the air brake pressure sensor. Use a wrench to unthread the sensor from the air line/valve block.

  4. Install the New Sensor

    Apply a thread sealant (if not pre-applied to the new sensor) and thread the new sensor into the port. Tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification (do not overtighten, as this can damage the pneumatic threads).

  5. Reconnect

    Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring the weather seal clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Pressurize and Test

    Start the tractor and allow the air compressor to build pressure. Check the sensor fitting for air leaks using soapy water.

  7. Clear Codes

    Enter the diagnostic menu on the Dash display and clear the stored 00.03.54 fault code. Verify that the dashboard air pressure readout is functioning normally.
