Massey Ferguson 00.03.64 – Dash: Issue With Hydraulic Oil Temperature Signal Voltage

The Dash controller has detected an abnormal electrical voltage (either too high or too low) on the signal circuit for the hydraulic oil temperature sensor. This condition is typically caused by an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power in the wiring harness, or an internally failed temperature sensor.

   Visually inspect the hydraulic oil temperature sensor pigtail and connector for corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.

   Disconnect the sensor and use a multimeter to check the continuity of the signal and ground wires from the sensor connector back to the Dash module harness.

   Test the signal wire for a short to ground or a short to power.

   Measure the resistance across the sensor's terminals. If the sensor reads completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted (zero resistance) at ambient temperature, the sensor has failed internally.

   Prepare machine

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, relieve any residual hydraulic pressure, and disconnect the negative battery terminal.

   Locate and clean sensor area

   Find the hydraulic oil temperature sensor on the hydraulic circuit/transmission block. Clean the surrounding area thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Remove faulty sensor

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Place a small catch pan underneath to catch any residual hydraulic oil. Use a wrench to carefully unthread and remove the faulty sensor.

   Install new sensor

   Thread the new OEM temperature sensor into the port by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect harness

   Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks securely into place.

   Test and verify

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and allow it to reach operating temperature. Verify that the Dash temperature gauge reads correctly and that the 00.03.64 fault code has cleared. Top off the hydraulic fluid if any was lost during the swap.
