The controller is receiving an electrical signal from the fuel tank's level sensor that is out of the expected voltage range (e.g., an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power). This typically results in an inaccurate or dead fuel gauge and a warning light on the dashboard.

   Verify battery static voltage and alternator charging voltage (should be 13.5 to 14.5 volts) to rule out system voltage issues.

   Trace the wiring harness from the fuel tank sensor to the dashboard, looking for rub points, frayed insulation, or rodent damage.

   Disconnect the fuel level sensor plug and inspect pins for corrosion, dirt, or moisture. Clean with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease.

   Use a multimeter to check the resistance (Ohms) of the fuel level sensor across its pins to identify an open or shorted circuit.

   Check the ground wire integrity from the sensor to the chassis.

   Prep

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access

   Locate the fuel level sensor on the top or side of the diesel fuel tank. Clean the area around the sensor thoroughly to prevent dirt from falling into the tank.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the retaining ring, screws, or bolts holding the sensor in place. Carefully pull the old sensor and float arm out of the tank.

   Installation

   Insert the new fuel level sensor into the tank, ensuring the float arm moves freely and the rubber gasket/O-ring is seated properly to prevent leaks. Secure the retaining hardware.

   Reconnection

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor. Reconnect the battery.

   Verification

   Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Verify that the fuel gauge registers the correct fuel level and that the 00.1.31 fault code clears from the dash display.
