Check the cause

  1. Check the forward/reverse lever for excessive physical play, as worn detents can cause the internal switch to sit between positions and send an erratic voltage signal.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the plug connector at the base of the forward/reverse lever for loose pins, chafed wires, or corrosion.

  3. Run a live diagnostic test to monitor the voltage output of the lever switch. If voltage drops out or spikes when moving between Forward, Neutral, and Reverse, the switch has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the park lock, and turn off the engine. Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the steering column shrouds/cowling to expose the base of the forward/reverse shuttle lever.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector from the lever switch assembly.

  4. Remove the Lever

Remove the mounting screws or retaining hardware holding the lever assembly to the steering column.

  5. Install the New Part

Mount the replacement forward/reverse lever and secure the hardware.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector into the new switch.

  7. Reassemble and Clear Codes

Reinstall the steering column shrouds, reconnect the battery, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 00.1.35 fault code from the Dash module. Test the tractor to ensure crisp engagement in forward and reverse.
