Massey Ferguson 00.1.3A – Dash: Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor, High Voltage

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the clutch pedal potentiometer (sensor) that exceeds the normal operating range. In 5-volt reference sensor circuits, a "High Voltage" condition typically indicates an open circuit (a broken wire or disconnected plug), a short to a positive power source, or an internally failed sensor.

   Inspect the clutch pedal sensor (potentiometer) located at the clutch pedal assembly to ensure it is not physically stuck or out of adjustment.

   Trace the wiring from the clutch pedal sensor to the Dash module. Look for rubbed-through wires causing a short to positive (battery voltage) or broken wires causing an open circuit.

   Disconnect the sensor and check for corrosion, bent pins, or moisture inside the connector plug.

   Resolve Wiring Issues

   If a short or open circuit is found during diagnostics, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector. Clear the code and test the pedal.

   Replace the Sensor

   If the wiring is intact and the Dash module is supplying the correct 5V reference and ground, the clutch pedal sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced. Remove the mounting hardware, swap the sensor, and reconnect the harness.

   Mandatory Calibration

   According to Massey Ferguson OEM service manuals (e.g., Section 1.2.2 "Adjustments, bleeding and calibrations"), you must perform a calibration of the clutch pedal sensor anytime the clutch pedal switch/sensor or the instrument panel (Dash) is replaced or modified. This is usually done via the tractor's Dash display or a diagnostic tool to teach the module the new 0% and 100% pedal travel voltage values.
