Massey Ferguson 00.1.3F – Dash Module: CAN BUS Message Issue (Dash)
Issue description
Communication breakdown on the network specifically involving the dashboard. The Dash module is either failing to receive expected messages from other controllers or is unable to broadcast its own data. This is most commonly caused by physical wiring faults, voltage drops, or a failed module.

Check the cause
Cold Boot: Disconnect the battery, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it to clear temporary logic lockups or high CAN bus utilization overruns.
Voltage & Ground Check: Check the battery voltage during cranking. Inspect the main earth straps (battery negative to chassis, and engine block to chassis) for corrosion or looseness.
Wiring & Connector Inspection: Inspect the main wiring harness leading to the back of the Dash module. Look for chafed wires, crushed harness sections, water ingress, or loose pins.
CAN Network Resistance: With the battery disconnected, measure the resistance across the CAN-High and CAN-Low pins (typically pins 2 and 3 on the diagnostic port or module connector). A healthy CAN bus should read approximately 60 ohms. If it reads 120 ohms, a termination resistor is missing or a wire is broken.
Check for Accompanying Codes: Look for other module communication codes (e.g., Engine ECU or Transmission) which might pinpoint where the network break is located.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Dash Module
Remove the steering column shrouds and dashboard bezel to access the rear of the Instrument Panel.
Clean and Reseat Connectors
Unplug the main harness connectors from the Dash. Spray the pins with a high-quality electrical contact cleaner. Check for pushed-back pins or green corrosion. Reconnect firmly.
Repair Harness
If you find chafed CAN wires (usually a twisted pair), cut out the damaged section and solder/heat-shrink new wire of the same gauge and twist rate.
Test the System
Reconnect the battery and turn the key to the ON position. Check if the 00.1.3F code clears or changes from "Active" to "Stored/Passive".
Replace the Dash Module
If power, ground, and CAN wiring all test perfectly but the Dash still fails to communicate, the internal CAN transceiver in the Dash module has failed. Replace the Instrument Panel assembly. Note: A new Dash module may require dealer programming/calibration to sync the tractor's hours and configuration.
