Massey Ferguson 00.1.41 – Dash: Tractor Forward Speed Is Too Fast (Dash)

The dashboard controller receives a ground speed signal that exceeds the tractor's programmed maximum limit. This is usually caused by a failing transmission speed sensor, wheel speed sensor, or a short in the sensor wiring sending an erratic, high-frequency signal to the controller.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission speed sensor and wheel speed sensors for chafing, exposed wires, or damage that could cause a short to ground or power.

   Disconnect the speed sensor and check the pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to monitor the live ground speed data from the Dash module. Look for erratic spikes while the tractor is stationary or moving slowly.

   Ensure the sensor is securely mounted and that the gap between the sensor and the internal gear/reluctor wheel is correct, as a loose sensor can cause erratic readings.

   Locate the Sensor

   Identify the faulty speed sensor. Depending on the exact model, this will be a transmission speed sensor (often located on the side of the transmission housing or on top of the lift cover) or a wheel speed sensor.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the sensor base to prevent dirt or debris from falling into the transmission or hub when the sensor is removed.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove

   Remove the retaining bolt(s) holding the sensor in place and carefully pull the sensor straight out of its bore.

   Install

   Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor (if applicable) and insert it into the housing. Secure it with the retaining bolt.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks into place.

   Clear and Test

   Clear the 00.1.41 fault code using a diagnostic tool. Test drive the tractor to verify that the speedometer reads accurately and the code does not return.
