Massey Ferguson 00.1.4C – Dash: Issue With Signal From Outside Air Temperature Sensor (Dash)

The controller is receiving an implausible signal from the ambient/outside air temperature sensor. The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault in the sensor circuit, such as an open circuit (broken wire/disconnected plug), a short circuit to ground, or a short circuit to positive voltage.

   Locate the outside air temperature sensor (typically mounted near the front grill/cooling package or on the exterior of the cab/mirror housing).

   Visually inspect the 2-pin electrical connector and the wiring harness leading to the sensor for chafing, corrosion, or broken wires.

   Disconnect the sensor and use a multimeter to measure its internal resistance. A standard reading for this NTC thermistor is around 5000 Ohms (5kΩ) at room temperature. If it reads completely open (infinite resistance) or shorted (0 Ohms), the sensor is dead.

   Check the wiring harness continuity from the sensor connector back to the Dash module to ensure there is no short to ground or short to power.

   Locate the outside air temperature sensor and depress the locking tab on the 2-pin electrical connector to unplug it.
