Massey Ferguson 00.1.72 – Dash Module: Dash Module Is Missing Information From The Transmission Module On The CAN BUS System.

CAN communication has broken down between the Dash Module and the Transmission Module. The Dash Module expects regular data packets (such as gear position, transmission temperature, or lubrication pressure) from the Transmission Module. When these messages time out or fail to arrive, the Dash logs this error.

   Check for accompanying codes to determine if the Dash is missing information from other modules (e.g., Engine or Linkage), which indicates the entire CAN BUS network is down rather than an isolated transmission module issue.

   Verify Transmission Module power and ground by checking the fuses and relays supplying power to the module.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness between the Dash and the Transmission Module for rub points, chafing, or rodent damage.

   Perform a CAN BUS resistance test with the battery disconnected by measuring the resistance across the CAN High and CAN Low pins at the diagnostic port (a healthy system should read approximately 60 ohms).

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during testing.

   Inspect Connectors

   Locate the Transmission Module (Autotronic controller) and the Dash Module. Disconnect the main harness connectors at both ends.

   Clean and Reseat

   Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out terminals. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner, apply a small amount of dielectric grease, and securely reconnect them.

   Test Wiring Continuity

   If the connections are clean, use a multimeter to test the continuity of the CAN High and CAN Low wires directly between the Transmission Module connector and the Dash Module connector. Repair any open circuits or shorts to ground.

   Restore Power and Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (or equivalent scanner) to clear the inactive fault codes.

   Module Replacement (If Necessary)

   If the wiring is intact, power/ground to the Transmission Module is confirmed, and the code immediately returns, the CAN transceiver inside either the Transmission Module or the Dash Module has likely failed. The faulty module will need to be replaced and reprogrammed/calibrated using dealer software (WinTest/FenDias).
