00.1.73

Massey Ferguson 00.1.73 – Dash Module: Dash Module Has Noted An Issue With The Transmission Lubrication Pressure (Dash)

Issue description

The system has detected a transmission lubrication pressure fault, which is monitored by the transmission lubrication pressure switch (X493).

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • T4 (2015-2021)
  • 5600 Series
  • 5700SL Series
  • 7600 Series
  • 7700 Series

Check the cause

  1. Check for RPM Correlation: Observe if the error code triggers when accelerating, increasing throttle, or moving, but disappears when the tractor is stationary and idling.

  2. Inspect Hydraulic Filters: Check the transmission hydraulic filter and the hydraulic suction strainer/screen first, as a restriction here will starve the transmission of lubrication pressure.

  3. Check the Sensor Circuit: Inspect the wiring and connector for the transmission lubrication pressure switch (X493) for damage, corrosion, or a short.

  4. Check Fluid Levels: Ensure the transmission/hydraulic fluid is at the correct level and is the recommended specification (Massey Ferguson Permatran 821XL Semi-Synthetic).

Repair steps

  1. Fluid & Filter Service

Begin by draining the transmission fluid (if required for screen access) or isolating the filter housings.

  2. Replace the Hydraulic Filter

Remove the old transmission hydraulic filter and install a new OEM filter.

  3. Replace/Clean the Hydraulic Strainer

Locate the hydraulic filter screen/cartridge strainer. Remove it and inspect for heavy metal shavings or debris. Replace it with a new screen.

  4. Refill Fluid

Top off the transmission with Massey Ferguson Permatran 821XL Semi-Synthetic fluid to the proper capacity.

  5. Test the Sensor

If the code persists after a filter and fluid service, use a multimeter to test the X493 Lubrication Switch. If the switch is failing to close/open at the specified pressure, replace the switch.

  6. Clear and Verify

Clear the fault codes from the Dash module. Run the tractor through various RPM ranges and drive it to confirm the code does not return.
