Massey Ferguson 00.1.74 – Dash Module: Dash Module Has Noted An Issue With The Transmission Filter Blocked Sensor

The system has either detected an actual restriction/blockage in the transmission hydraulic oil filter, or there is an electrical signal error (such as a short, open circuit, or faulty switch) coming from the transmission filter blockage switch itself.

   Check for Actual Blockage: Do not assume the sensor is faulty. A blocked filter warning is often a symptom of a severe mechanical issue. Independent Massey Ferguson specialists note that a blocked filter can indicate that the fiber on the internal brake discs has started to break up.

   Inspect the Fluid: Pull the transmission dipstick or drain a small amount of fluid to check for heavy contamination, metal filings, or fibrous brake disc material.

   Test the Sensor and Wiring: Locate the Transmission Filter Blockage Switch (identified in Massey Ferguson wiring diagrams as component X20). Inspect the wiring harness between the X20 switch and the Dash Module for chafing, corrosion, or disconnected plugs. Test the switch for continuity.

   Secure the Tractor

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Inspect and Remove the Filter

   Locate the transmission hydraulic oil filter. Remove the filter housing and inspect the filter element.

   Address Contamination (If Found)

   If the filter is clogged with metal shavings or fibrous material, do not just replace the filter and continue driving. The transmission/hydraulic system must be completely flushed. You will also need to split the tractor or access the rear end to replace the failing components (commonly the brake discs) to prevent catastrophic transmission damage.

   Replace the Sensor (If Filter is Clean)

   If the hydraulic fluid is clean and the filter is unblocked, the X20 blockage sensor is likely faulty. Disconnect the electrical harness, unthread the old sensor from the filter housing, and install the new sensor.

   Reassemble and Refill

   Install a new transmission filter. Top up the transmission fluid to the correct level using the OEM specified fluid.

   Clear Codes

   Turn on the ignition and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 00.1.74 fault code from the Dash Module. Start the tractor and verify the warning light does not return.
