Massey Ferguson 00.2.41 – Dash: Tractor Forward Speed Is Too Fast

The control module is receiving a speed signal from the transmission or wheel speed sensors that exceeds the maximum plausible speed for the tractor, or it is receiving an erratic, high-frequency signal often caused by a failing sensor or a short in the wiring harness.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission speed sensor and wheel speed sensors for chafing, bare wires, or pinched lines that could cause a short-to-power.

   Disconnect the speed sensor and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or loose terminals.

   Verify the sensor is securely mounted, has the correct gap, and is free of heavy metallic debris.

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to monitor live data for the tractor's forward speed while stationary and moving to check for erratic jumps.

   Locate the Sensor

   Identify the faulty speed sensor (transmission speed sensor or wheel speed sensor, depending on the exact model's configuration). Note: On some larger models, accessing the sensor may require removing a rear tire.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the mounting area and the electrical connector to prevent dirt from entering the transmission housing when the sensor is removed.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor.

   Remove the Sensor

   Remove the retaining bolt(s) and carefully pull the sensor out of the housing.

   Install the New Sensor

   Insert the replacement sensor. Ensure the sensor gap is correct for proper operation. Tighten the retaining bolt to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks into place.

   Clear Codes

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 00.2.41 fault code from the Dash module. Test drive the tractor to verify the speedometer reads accurately and the code does not return.
