00.2.47

Massey Ferguson 00.2.47 – Dash: Forward/Reverse Lever Neutral Position Switch Issue

Issue description

The system is detecting a malfunction with the neutral position switch on the forward/reverse shuttle lever (power shuttle lever). The controller is either not receiving the expected neutral signal when the lever is centered, or it is detecting an open/short circuit in the switch's wiring.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the shuttle lever physically clicks into the neutral position to rule out worn mechanical detents preventing switch engagement

  2. Remove the steering column shrouds and visually inspect the wiring harness leading to the shuttle lever for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or loose/corroded connector pins

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test for continuity across the switch terminals (state should change from open to closed when moving the lever in and out of neutral)

  4. With the key ON, check the harness side of the connector to ensure the Dash module is sending the reference voltage to the switch

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts and ensure safety while working near the steering column.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the plastic shrouds/cowling surrounding the steering column to expose the base of the forward/reverse shuttle lever.

  3. Disconnect Harness

Unplug the electrical connector from the shuttle lever switch assembly.

  4. Remove the Assembly

Depending on the specific model, remove the mounting screws or bolts securing the lever/switch bracket to the steering column.

  5. Install the New Part

Mount the replacement switch or lever assembly. Ensure proper adjustment so that the switch only activates when the lever is in true neutral, not just close to it.

  6. Reassemble

Reconnect the electrical plug, reinstall the steering column shrouds, and reconnect the battery.

  7. Test

Turn the key and verify that the tractor will only start when the lever is in neutral. Check the dash to confirm fault code 00.2.47 has cleared.
