Massey Ferguson 00.2.74 – Dash Module: Dash Module Has Noted An Issue With The Transmission Filter Blocked Sensor (Dash)

The system has detected an anomaly regarding the transmission filter blockage switch (sensor X20). This code triggers either because the transmission filter is genuinely restricted/blocked by debris, or because there is a signal error (such as a wiring fault or a failed sensor) sending incorrect voltage to the module.

   Stop the tractor immediately to prevent potential metal-to-metal contact and permanent transmission damage if the filter is actually blocked.

   Inspect the transmission filter and fluid for debris, such as brake disc fibre or metal filings.

   If the filter and fluid are clean, test the X20 sensor for continuity and verify the wiring harness between the sensor and the Dash Module is not damaged, corroded, or shorting out.

   Address Contamination

   If you find debris (like brake disc fibre or metal filings) in the filter, you must completely flush out the hydraulic/transmission system. Do not simply replace the filter, as filings will pass through the whole back end and destroy the replacement components.

   Replace the Filter

   If the filter is clogged with normal operational wear or after a flush, install a new OEM transmission filter. Refill the system to the proper capacity using the recommended fluid (e.g., Massey Ferguson Permatran 821XL Semi-Synthetic).

   Replace the Sensor

   If the system is clean and diagnostics point to a signal error, locate the transmission filter restriction sensor switch (X20) on the transmission housing. Disconnect the electrical harness, unthread the faulty sensor, and install the new replacement part. Reconnect the harness.

   Clear Codes

   Turn on the ignition and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 00.2.74 code from the Dash Module. Start the tractor and verify the warning light does not return.
