Massey Ferguson 00.X.3A – Dash (Instrument Panel): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor, High Voltage.

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the clutch pedal position sensor (X68) that exceeds the maximum expected threshold. This condition is typically caused by a short to power (+12V or +5V reference) in the sensor wiring, an open ground circuit, or an internal failure of the potentiometer itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal sensor (at the pivot point in the cab) for rubbed, pinched, or bare wires that could be shorting to a power source.

   Unplug the sensor and check the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins, which can cause an open ground and force the signal voltage high.

   With the key ON (engine off), probe the sensor connector with a multimeter to verify it has a proper ground and reference voltage.

   Perform a sensor sweep test using a diagnostic tool: monitor the clutch pedal voltage while slowly depressing the pedal. If voltage spikes erratically to maximum or stays stuck at high voltage, the potentiometer has failed.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the clutch pedal potentiometer (Sensor X68) mounted at the pivot axis of the clutch pedal assembly inside the cab.

   Remove the Sensor

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the sensor. Remove the retaining screws/bolts holding the sensor to the pedal bracket and slide the sensor off the pivot shaft.

   Install the New Sensor

   Slide the new potentiometer onto the pivot shaft, ensuring the internal tangs align correctly with the pedal mechanism. Secure it with the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor and reconnect the battery.

   Clutch Calibration

   Perform a clutch pedal calibration to allow the Dash/Transmission controllers to learn the new minimum (pedal up) and maximum (pedal down) voltage values.
