   Test the battery with a multimeter to ensure it reads around 12.6V, as low voltage can cause erratic sensor and switch behavior.

   Inspect the forward/reverse lever mechanism for physical play. Ensure the lever physically clicks into the neutral detent, as a sloppy lever may fail to trigger the switch.

   Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the base of the forward/reverse lever on the steering column/dash for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion.

   Disconnect the switch and perform a multimeter continuity test. It should show a closed circuit in the neutral position and an open circuit in forward or reverse.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the negative battery cable before working on electrical components to prevent short circuits.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the plastic steering column shrouds or lower dash panels to expose the base of the forward/reverse shuttle lever assembly.

   Disconnect Wiring

   Unplug the electrical connector leading to the forward/reverse lever switch.

   Remove the Faulty Component

   Unbolt the mounting screws securing the lever assembly or switch. Depending on the model, the neutral switch may be a replaceable plunger/sensor on the transmission selector cover, or integrated directly into the electronic power shuttle lever.

   Install the New Part

   Mount the new switch or lever assembly into position and tighten the retaining screws.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back in. Reinstall the steering column shrouds and dash panels.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position to verify the dash recognizes the neutral position (fault code should clear or become inactive). Attempt to start the tractor to confirm the safety interlock is functioning correctly.
