Massey Ferguson 00.X.5E – Dash: Issue With Signal Voltage From Front Axle Steering Sensor (Dash)

The system is detecting an irregular, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal voltage from the Wheel Angle Sensor (WAS), which monitors the steering angle of the front axle.

   Visually inspect the X235 Wheel Angle Sensor (mounted on the right side behind the front axle), the M8 threaded stub, ball joints, and brackets for physical damage or bending.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the X235 sensor for chafed wires, internal corrosion, or loose pins causing voltage drop or signal loss.

   Use a multimeter to verify the supply voltage and signal voltage at the sensor. Check for related secondary codes (e.g., D 183 for signal too high, D 184 for signal too low) to narrow down the electrical fault.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a flat surface, center the steering, turn off the engine, and disconnect the battery.

   Removal

   Navigate to the right side of the front axle. Disconnect the electrical connector from the X235 Wheel Angle Sensor. Remove the M8 nuts and disconnect the ball joints securing the sensor to the Carraro front axle tie rod bracket.

   Installation

   Mount the new OEM Wheel Angle Sensor to the bracket. Secure the ball joints and M8 nuts. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration

   Using the tractor's terminal (e.g., C1000, C2100, or Datatronic display), navigate to the Auto-Guide / Steering calibration menu. Select Wheel Angle Sensor calibration. Turn the steering wheel to full lock LEFT and confirm. Turn the steering wheel to full lock RIGHT and confirm. Center the wheels perfectly straight and confirm.

   Clear Codes

   Clear the 00.X.5E fault code from the Dash module and test drive the tractor to ensure the auto-steer is responsive and the code does not return.
