Massey Ferguson 00.X.73 – Dash Module: Dash Module Has Noted An Issue With The Transmission Lubrication Pressure (Dash)

The transmission lubrication pressure switch (X493) detects that the hydraulic oil pressure in the transmission lubrication circuit has dropped below the safe operating threshold.

   Check transmission/hydraulic fluid level to verify it is correct and ensure the fluid is not degraded or contaminated

   Inspect transmission hydraulic filters for restriction or blockages (a highly common cause for this code)

   Inspect the X493 transmission lubrication pressure switch wiring harness and connector for rub marks, corrosion, or loose connections that could cause a false low-voltage reading

   Perform a mechanical pressure test by plumbing a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge into the transmission test port to verify actual operating pressure against the switch reading

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, lower all implements, and turn off the engine.

   Filter Replacement (If applicable)

   If the filters are due for service or suspected of restriction, drain the necessary fluid, remove the old transmission filters on the side of the transmission, install new OEM filters, and top off the hydraulic fluid with the recommended Massey Ferguson Permatran 821XL (or equivalent).

   Locate the Switch

   Locate the X493 transmission oil pressure switch threaded into the transmission housing.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the switch. Using a deep socket or wrench, carefully unthread the switch from the housing. Have a rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will seep out.

   Install the New Switch

   Thread the new OEM pressure switch into the port. Tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not overtighten, as the brass threads can shear).

   Reconnect and Test

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Start the tractor and let it idle. Check for leaks around the new switch. Rev the engine past 1200 RPM (where the code often triggers) to ensure the dash warning light remains off and the code does not return.
