00.X.74

Massey Ferguson 00.X.74 – Dash Module: Dash Module Has Noted An Issue With The Transmission Filter Blocked Sensor (Dash)

Issue description

The system has detected a problem via the transmission filter restriction sensor. The underlying condition is either a physical blockage in the transmission/hydraulic oil filter (often due to fluid contamination or degraded clutch/brake friction material) or an electrical fault (such as a failed sensor, signal error, or wiring issue) in the sensor's circuit.

Applies to these machines

  • 4707
  • 4708
  • 4709
  • 4710
  • T4 (2015-2021)
  • 5608-5613
  • 5710SL-5713SL
  • 7614-7626
  • 7714-7726S

Check the cause

  1. Check the transmission/hydraulic fluid level and condition for signs of contamination, such as fiber from brake discs or clutch packs.

  2. Test the transmission filter blockage switch/sensor using a multimeter to determine if it is stuck in the 'closed' or 'open' position.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors running between the transmission filter sensor and the Dash Module for corrosion, loose pins, or broken wires.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Allow the transmission fluid to cool.

  2. Drain/Catch Fluid

Place a large drain pan under the transmission filter housing to catch any hydraulic fluid that escapes during the repair.

  3. Replace the Filter (If Blocked)

If the filter is restricted, unscrew the old transmission/hydraulic filter. Clean the mating surface on the housing and install a new OEM filter.

  4. Replace the Sensor (If Faulty)

If diagnostics point to a failed sensor rather than a blocked filter, disconnect the electrical connector from the transmission filter restriction sensor. Unscrew the sensor from the housing. Install the new sensor and tighten to OEM specifications, then reconnect the wiring harness.

  5. System Flush (If Contaminated)

If the filter was blocked by heavy metal filings or brake disc material, the entire back-end hydraulic system must be flushed to prevent catastrophic transmission failure.

  6. Refill and Test

Top up the transmission fluid (e.g., Massey Ferguson Permatran 821XL) to the correct level. Start the tractor, check for leaks around the filter and sensor, and verify that the Dash Module clears the 00.X.74 fault code.
