Issue description

The 10-volt analog reference voltage supplied by the TECU to various armrest controls and sensors is missing, out of range, or shorted.

Check the cause

  1. Check the Output at the Source: Locate the Armrest Autotronic 5 module and probe connector X104 to verify if the module is outputting 10 volts.

  2. Check for Shorts: Inspect the wiring harness for short circuits to ground (0V) or short circuits to 12V.

  3. Isolate Armrest Components: Check FingerTIP switches 1-5 (Connectors X307, X308, X108, X109, X110), Joystick (Connector X112), Transmission lever (Connector X106), and Armrest 6-button keyboard (Connector X113) for internal shorts pulling the 10V circuit down.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes while unplugging modules.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

    Carefully disassemble the multifunction armrest console to expose the Autotronic 5 module and the wiring harness.

  3. Component Isolation Test

    Disconnect all peripheral components that share the 10V supply (FingerTIP switches, joystick, transmission lever). Reconnect the battery, turn the key to the ON position, and check if the 10V supply at connector X104 returns and the code clears. If the voltage returns, plug the components back in one by one, cycling the key each time, to identify the internally shorted component.

  4. Harness Inspection

    If disconnecting the components does not restore the 10V supply, inspect the armrest wiring harness for chafing, pinched wires, or corrosion, particularly where the harness routes through the armrest pivot point. Repair any damaged wiring.

  5. Module Replacement

    If the wiring harness tests perfectly and all peripheral components are unplugged, but the Armrest Autotronic 5 module still fails to output 10 volts at X104, the module itself has suffered an internal failure and must be replaced.

  6. Calibration

    If the TECU or any potentiometers (joystick/levers) are replaced, a dealer calibration via the Massey Ferguson Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) may be required to pair the new module and relearn the sensor sweeps.
