Check the cause
Verify battery voltage and inspect the main battery earth points and 12V power supply points to the TECU
Inspect the 10V reference circuit for short circuits to ground or 12V on the lines feeding the armrest (FingerTIP controls) and auxiliary valves
Inspect the main Autotronic 5 TECU harness connectors (specifically connector X104) for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion
Check CAN bus communication to ensure messages from the keypad and armrest are reaching the TECU, and verify the VIN broadcast
Check auxiliary valve draw for a shorted solenoid that could back-feed or overload the TECU
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the battery isolator switch and disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent electrical spikes.
Locate the TECU
Access the Autotronic 5 TECU (location varies by cab configuration, often located under the right-hand console/armrest or behind the cab trim panels).
Remove the Module
Carefully unplug the X104 connector and any associated harness junctions (e.g., X461 TECU harness junction). Unbolt the module from its mounting bracket.
Install the New Module
Mount the replacement Autotronic 5 TECU and securely reconnect all harness plugs.
Programming and Calibration
Use a compatible diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO EDT or Jaltest AGV) to program the correct Vehicle Electronic Identification (VIN), copy parameters and configurations to the new control unit, and perform mandatory technical calibrations, including the cab suspension, front axle suspension, and transmission/clutch pedal calibrations.
