03.00.87

Massey Ferguson 03.00.87 – TECU (Tractor Electronic Control Unit): High Voltage On Auxiliary Valve Switch 3 (TECU) / Calibration Issue For Valve Switch 3 (TECU)

Issue description

The controller is detecting a short circuit to 12 V on the circuit for the FingerTIP 3 switch (the switch controlling the 3rd auxiliary hydraulic spool valve).

Check the cause

  1. Verify the 10V reference output signal from the Armrest Autotronic 5 (X104) module to ensure the TECU is supplying the correct baseline voltage

  2. Inspect the wiring harness from the Armrest Autotronic 5 (X104) to the FingerTIP 3 switch (X108) for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinched harnesses causing a short circuit to 12V

  3. Disconnect the FingerTIP 3 switch and test it with a multimeter to check if the internal contacts have failed or shorted out

  4. Attempt to recalibrate Valve Switch 3 through the tractor's diagnostic terminal, as the code can trigger due to a calibration issue

Repair steps

  1. Safety First

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes while working on the TECU and armrest components.

  2. Access the Armrest Console

Carefully remove the cladding and retaining screws on the armrest console to access the internal wiring and the FingerTIP switch block (X108).

  3. Repair Wiring

If the diagnostic checks revealed a short to 12V in the harness, repair or replace the damaged section of the wiring. Ensure all connections are clean, tight, and free of moisture.

  4. Replace the Switch

If the wiring is intact but the switch failed the multimeter test, remove the retaining clips/screws holding the FingerTIP 3 switch in place. Disconnect the electrical connector and install the new switch.

  5. Reassemble and Reconnect

Reinstall the armrest console panels and reconnect the battery.

  6. Recalibrate and Clear Codes

Turn the key on. Use the tractor's diagnostic interface to clear the 03.00.87 / AR 32 fault code from the dashboard/TECU. Perform the calibration procedure for Auxiliary Valve Switch 3 to ensure the TECU recognizes the new switch's voltage sweep.
