Massey Ferguson 03.00.94 – TECU: High Amp Draw On Auxiliary Valve Switch 6 (TECU)

Issue description

The control module has detected an excessive electrical current (amperage) on the circuit responsible for the 6th auxiliary (spool) valve switch, indicating a short circuit to ground (0V) or a severely degraded component pulling more current than the circuit is rated to handle.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness between the Auxiliary Valve 6 switch and the TECU for pinched wires, chafed insulation, or melted wiring shorting to the chassis.

  2. Disconnect the switch and the valve solenoid, then check the connector pins for water ingress, dirt, or corrosion.

  3. Test the Auxiliary Valve 6 switch for internal shorts using a multimeter.

  4. Test the Auxiliary Valve 6 solenoid coil at the rear hydraulic block by measuring resistance across the coil pins and comparing it to a known good valve.

  5. With the switch and solenoid disconnected, check for continuity between the signal wire and ground to isolate a shorted wiring harness.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

  2. Access the Faulty Component

    Depending on your diagnostic findings, access either the armrest console (for a faulty FingerTIP switch), the rear fender (for a fender switch), or the rear hydraulic valve block (for a shorted solenoid).

  3. Repair Wiring

    If a short to ground was found in the harness, cut out the damaged section of the wire. Solder in a replacement wire and seal it with marine-grade heat shrink tubing, or replace that specific harness section.

  4. Replace the Component

    If the switch or the solenoid coil failed the resistance test, unbolt/unclip the faulty component and install the replacement part.

  5. Reassemble and Reconnect

    Plug all connectors back in securely. Reconnect the battery.

  6. Clear Codes and Test

    Turn the key to the ON position. Use the tractor's diagnostic interface (CCD/Datatronic screen) or a dealer service tool to clear the stored 03.00.94 fault code. Actuate Auxiliary Valve 6 multiple times to ensure the code does not return and the valve operates smoothly.
