Check the cause

  1. Remove the armrest covers and visually inspect the wiring harness leading from the joystick to the MFA module for chafed wires, pinches, or breaks.

  2. Disconnect the joystick and MFA connectors to inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-out pins. Ensure they seat firmly when reconnected.

  3. Using a multimeter, verify that the joystick is receiving proper power and ground. Test the CAN High and CAN Low wires for continuity between the joystick and the MFA module, and ensure they are not shorted to ground or to each other.

  4. Connect a compatible diagnostic tool to the tractor, access the MFA module, and monitor live data for joystick inputs. If wiring is intact but no inputs register, the joystick has failed internally.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Access the Joystick

Carefully remove the plastic trim and covers on the Multi-Function Armrest to expose the joystick mounting hardware.

  3. Remove the Faulty Component

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the base of the joystick. Unscrew the retaining bolts/screws holding the joystick assembly to the armrest frame and remove it.

  4. Install the New Joystick

Seat the replacement joystick into the armrest and secure it with the mounting hardware. Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  5. Reassembly

Reinstall all armrest covers and trim pieces. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

  6. Calibration and Clearing

Turn the ignition on. Connect the AGCO EDT (or equivalent diagnostic scanner), clear the inactive 03.01.19 fault code from the MFA module, and perform a joystick calibration procedure if prompted by the software.
