Issue description

The TECU provides a regulated 10-volt reference supply to power various operator controls and sensors on the machine. This fault code is triggered when the 10V supply circuit falls out of its expected operating range. This is typically caused by a short circuit to ground in the wiring harness, an internally shorted sensor pulling the reference voltage down, a short to a 12V power source, or an internal failure within the TECU itself.

Check the cause

  1. Perform a sensor isolation test by disconnecting sensors on the 10V circuit one at a time (e.g., auxiliary valve switches, hitch depth control dial, hand throttle, speed control lever position sensor) to see if voltage returns to normal.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the TECU and the armrest/pillar controls for chafing, pinched wires, or exposed copper shorting to ground or 12V.

  3. Perform a TECU output test by disconnecting the harness and testing the 10V output pin directly on the module to check for internal hardware failure.

  4. Verify that the TECU is receiving proper 12V battery power and has a clean, secure ground connection.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

    Always disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing the TECU or its 38-way connectors to prevent electrical arcing or module damage.

  2. Address the Short

    If a sensor was found to be faulty during diagnostics, replace the sensor. If the harness is damaged, repair the broken/shorted wires using proper soldering and heat-shrink techniques, then secure the harness away from pinch points.

  3. Replace the TECU

    If internally failed, locate the TECU and remove the mounting nuts/retaining bracket (often requiring a 7/16” socket). Carefully unscrew and disconnect the 38-way transmission and vehicle interface connectors (often requiring a 5/32” hex wrench). Remove the old TECU, mount the new TECU, and secure the retaining bracket (torque nuts to 7–9 lb-ft / 9.5–12.2 N•m). Reconnect the 38-way connectors, ensuring not to overtighten the connector bolts (spec is typically around 25 lb-in / 2.82 N•m).

  4. Re-connect Battery & Calibrate

    Reconnect the negative battery cable. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) / ServiceRanger to program the module, copy over the vehicle configuration settings, and calibrate the transmission and linkage.
