03.01.94

Massey Ferguson 03.01.94 – TECU: High Amp Draw On Auxiliary Valve Switch 6 (TECU)

Issue description

The control module has detected excessive electrical current on the circuit dedicated to the 6th auxiliary spool valve switch. This condition almost always indicates a short circuit to ground (0 V) either within the switch itself or in the wiring harness connecting the switch to the module.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the armrest console to the TECU for pinched wires, chafing, or exposed copper that might be shorting against the tractor's metal chassis.

  2. Disconnect Auxiliary Valve Switch 6, turn the tractor's key to the ON position, and check the active fault codes. If the code changes from 03.01.94 to 03.01.95, the wiring is intact and the switch itself is internally shorted.

  3. If the code remains 03.01.94 while the switch is unplugged, use a multimeter to test the signal wire for continuity to ground. A beep indicates a short in the harness that must be repaired.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical damage.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the retaining screws on the armrest console to access the underside of the fingertip spool valve switches or the joystick assembly.

  3. Remove the Faulty Switch

Unplug the electrical connector from Auxiliary Valve Switch 6. Depress the retaining clips or remove the mounting screws holding the switch in the console bezel, and pull the switch out.

  4. Install the New Switch

Snap the replacement switch into the console and reconnect the wiring harness.

  5. Reassemble and Power Up

Reassemble the armrest console and reconnect the battery.

  6. Calibration

Turn the tractor on and clear the inactive fault codes. Note: You may trigger a subsequent 03.01.96 code ("Calibration Issue For Valve Switch 6"). If this occurs, you must use the tractor's terminal display to run the spool valve calibration procedure so the TECU can learn the new switch's parameters.

Parts you might need
