Check the cause

  1. Check the hitch depth control dial on the armrest for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing smooth rotation.

  2. Carefully open the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness connecting the dial to the MFA module. Look for loose pins, corrosion, or chafed wires that could cause a voltage drop or short.

  3. Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (such as Jaltest or AGCO EDT) to the tractor. Access the MFA module and monitor the live signal voltage from the hitch depth dial. The voltage should sweep smoothly without dropping out as you turn the dial.

  4. Use a multimeter to verify that the dial is receiving the correct 5V reference and ground from the MFA module. If the 5V reference is missing, check for other codes, as a shared 5V circuit might be shorted by a different sensor.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower the rear hitch to the ground (if possible), turn off the ignition, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

Remove the retaining screws holding the top cover or side panels of the Multi-Function Armrest to expose the internal control elements.

  3. Remove the Faulty Component

Locate the hitch depth control dial/joystick element. Disconnect its electrical connector. Release the retaining clips or mounting screws securing the switch assembly to the armrest housing and pull it out.

  4. Install the New Part

Seat the replacement control dial assembly into the armrest housing and secure it with the original hardware.

  5. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector into the new dial, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place.

  6. Reassembly

Reinstall the armrest covers and panels, taking care not to pinch any wires. Reconnect the tractor's battery.

  7. Calibration & Testing

Turn the ignition on. Use your diagnostic tool to clear the 03.02.9F fault code. Test the operation of the rear hitch using the new dial to ensure the MFA module registers the correct depth commands. (Note: Some models may require a brief calibration routine for the armrest controls via the Datatronic terminal or diagnostic tool).
