Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the TECU to the armrest console (FingerTIP controls or joystick) for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or melted casing.

  2. Disconnect the plug at the switch and the TECU to inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture, or bent terminals.

  3. Test the signal wire for continuity to ground using a multimeter; continuity when disconnected indicates a shorted harness.

  4. Test the switch itself for an internal short circuit using a multimeter on the Ohms setting.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Switch

Remove the necessary trim panels on the armrest console to access the FingerTIP control module or joystick assembly housing Auxiliary Valve Switch 4.

  3. Address the Short

If the harness is damaged: Repair the wiring using proper soldering and heat-shrink tubing, or replace the affected harness section. If the switch is internally shorted: Unplug the connector, unclip/unscrew the faulty switch from the console, and install the replacement switch.

  4. Reassembly

Reconnect the wiring harness and reinstall the armrest trim panels.

  5. Clear Codes & Test

Reconnect the battery. Turn the key to the ON position and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 03.03.8A fault code. Start the tractor and operate Auxiliary Valve 4 to verify the repair and ensure the code does not return.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Auxiliary Valve Switch / FingerTIP Control Switch (Valve 4)

Ensure you are replacing the switch specifically designated for Valve #4, as the armrest contains multiple identical-looking switches for the different hydraulic remotes.
