Massey Ferguson 03.03.9E – MFA: Issue With Hand Throttle On Arm Rest Signal Voltage (MFA)
Issue description
The electronic control system has detected an irregular signal voltage (likely out of range, open circuit, or short circuit) coming from the hand throttle potentiometer/sensor located on the armrest.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connector directly beneath the hand throttle on the MFA for chafing, pinched wires, or loose pins.
Verify that the sensor is receiving its reference voltage (typically 8.5V or 12V depending on the specific model year/AGCO architecture) and has a good ground.
Using a multimeter or diagnostic tool, monitor the signal voltage while slowly moving the hand throttle from minimum to maximum. The voltage should scale smoothly without any dropouts or spikes.
Attempt to run the hand throttle calibration routine (often designated as Calibration 4002 on AGCO/MF/Fendt terminals) to see if the module can relearn the sensor's voltage range.
Repair steps
Preparation
Turn off the tractor, apply the handbrake, and turn the ignition to the OFF position.
Disassembly
Carefully remove the trim panels on the Multifunction Armrest to access the underside of the hand throttle mechanism.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical connector from the hand throttle potentiometer. Unbolt/unclip the faulty throttle assembly from the armrest housing.
Installation
Mount the new hand throttle assembly and reconnect the wiring harness. Reassemble the armrest trim.
Calibration
Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu (Calibration 4002). Turn the hand throttle to the maximum position and press 'Return/OK' to confirm. Turn the hand throttle to the minimum position and press 'Return/OK' to confirm. Wait for the 'O.K.' prompt indicating the new sensor settings are saved. Turn the ignition key to the '0' (OFF) position to finalize and store the settings in the module's memory.
