Massey Ferguson 03.03.A2 – MFA (Multi-Function Armrest): Issue With Speed Control Lever Position Sensor On Armrest Signal Voltage
Issue description
The signal voltage coming from the position sensor on the armrest's speed control lever (often integrated into the hydraulic control joystick) is out of the expected range. The controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-bounds voltage signal, meaning it cannot accurately determine the physical position of the speed control lever.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading from the speed control lever/joystick inside the armrest to the MFA module for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins.
Use a multimeter to check the signal voltage output from the speed control lever position sensor to verify if the voltage is shorted to ground, shorted to a +12V power source, or completely open.
Attempt to recalibrate the forward travel lever/speed control lever on the armrest using the tractor's instrument panel or a dealer diagnostic tool to rule out software or calibration drift.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the Armrest
Remove the retaining screws and the upper plastic trim/cover on the Multi-Function Armrest to expose the internal control modules and joystick assemblies.
Disconnect the Sensor
Locate the speed control lever/hydraulic joystick and carefully unplug its electrical connector.
Remove the Lever
Unbolt the retaining hardware holding the faulty speed control lever assembly in place and remove it from the armrest.
Install the New Part
Seat the new speed control lever assembly into the armrest and secure it with the mounting hardware.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall the armrest trim panels.
Recalibrate
Reconnect the battery. You must perform a calibration of the new speed control lever on the armrest so the MFA module can learn the new sensor's minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
Clear Codes
Clear the 03.03.A2 fault code from the system and test the tractor's forward/reverse and speed control functions.
