Check the cause

  1. Verify the power supply and ground to the TECU, as voltage irregularities can trigger TECU faults

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the TECU for chafing, moisture ingress, or bent pins

  3. Ensure the CAN bus lines are intact and communicating properly with other modules (like the Armrest MFA or Engine ECU)

  4. Check if the vehicle electronic identification is correct, as configuration mismatches can cause the TECU to log internal errors

Repair steps

  1. Read and Clear Codes

Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EDT or Jaltest) to read the active fault codes and freeze-frame data. Clear the code to see if it is a hard (active) fault or a stored intermittent glitch.

  2. Isolate the Module

Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  3. Inspect the TECU

Locate the TECU and disconnect its harnesses. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and reconnect them securely.

  4. Retest

Reconnect the battery, cycle the key, and operate the tractor. If code 03.X.84 returns immediately, the TECU has suffered an internal hardware or memory failure.

  5. Replace the TECU

Remove the faulty TECU and install the replacement module.

  6. Programming and Calibration

A new TECU is not plug-and-play. You must use a dealer diagnostic tool to flash the correct software, copy the vehicle's configuration parameters to the new control unit, and calibrate the system.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Tractor Electronic Control Unit (TECU) / TECU Module
