Massey Ferguson 03.X.8B – TECU: High Voltage On Auxiliary Valve Switch 4 (TECU)

   Access the tractor's diagnostic dashboard to confirm if 03.X.8B (or AR 42) is currently active or stored in the history.

   Inspect the physical Auxiliary Valve Switch 4 on the armrest (fingertip control switch) for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

   Disconnect the switch and probe the signal wire leading back to the TECU with a multimeter to check for continuity to a 12V power source (indicating a short circuit).

   Test the switch's internal resistance to see if the contacts are fused closed or shorting to the power supply pin.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes during repair.

   Access the Armrest Console

   Carefully remove the trim panels on the Massey Ferguson Armrest (MFA) to expose the underside of the fingertip spool valve switches.

   Isolate Switch 4

   Locate the connector for Auxiliary Valve Switch 4. Disconnect it and inspect the pins for corrosion, bent terminals, or debris that could bridge the 12V supply to the signal return.

   Harness Repair

   Trace the wiring harness from the switch down through the armrest pivot point (a common area for wire chafing). If the signal wire is exposed and touching a 12V wire, cut out the damaged section, solder in a new piece of wire, and seal it with heat-shrink tubing.

   Component Replacement

   If the wiring harness tests perfectly fine (no short to 12V found in the harness), the internal circuitry of the Auxiliary Valve Switch 4 has failed. Replace the switch assembly.

   Reassembly and Calibration

   Reconnect the switch and battery. Turn the key on and clear the stored fault codes. You may need to perform a valve calibration procedure via the dashboard terminal.
