Massey Ferguson 03.X.96 – TECU: Calibration Issue For Valve Switch 6 (TECU)
Issue description
The Tractor Electronic Control Unit (TECU) has detected that the calibration values for the auxiliary hydraulic spool valve switch 6 (often located on the multifunction armrest or fender) are missing, out of range, or invalid.

Check the cause
Inspect the physical condition of auxiliary valve switch 6 (on the MFA armrest or fender) to ensure it moves smoothly through its full range of motion without sticking.
Check the wiring harness and connectors (e.g., X95/X96) associated with the switch for corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing.
Connect a diagnostic tool (AGCO or Jaltest) to verify the live voltage/position readings of the switch and confirm the TECU is receiving a signal.
Repair steps
Access diagnostic menu
Turn the ignition on and access the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu. This can be done via the tractor's Datatronic/CCD terminal or by connecting an authorized diagnostic tool.
Navigate to calibration menu
Navigate to the TECU module and select the calibration menu for the auxiliary hydraulic spool valves / MFA armrest spool valve control lever.
Select valve
Select Valve Switch 6 for calibration.
Perform calibration
Follow the on-screen prompts. You will typically be required to move the switch/lever through its full range of motion (fully forward/extend, fully backward/retract, and allow it to return to the neutral position) so the TECU can learn the minimum, maximum, and center voltage values.
Save calibration
Save the calibration and cycle the ignition key.
Test operation
Test the operation of the auxiliary valve. If the calibration fails to save, or if the fault code returns immediately, the switch itself has likely failed internally and must be replaced.
Replace switch
If replacement is necessary, swap out the faulty switch, clear the fault codes, and repeat the calibration procedure from Step 1.
