Massey Ferguson 03.X.9A – TECU: High Amp Draw On Auxiliary Valve Switch 8 (TECU)
Issue description
The control module is detecting an abnormally high electrical current on the circuit for the 8th auxiliary valve switch, typically pointing to a short circuit to ground (0 V) or an internally shorted switch.

Check the cause
Check the wiring harness connected to Auxiliary Valve Switch 8 for a short circuit to 0 V (ground).
Inspect the switch and its connectors for physical damage, melted plastic, or internal shorts causing the high amperage draw.
Verify the connections at the TECU module to ensure no pins are damaged, corroded, or shorted.
Repair steps
Locate the Switch
Locate Auxiliary Valve Switch 8. Depending on your tractor's specific configuration, auxiliary spool valve switches are typically located on the armrest Multipad joystick or externally on the rear fenders.
Disconnect and Inspect
Disconnect the wiring harness from the switch. Inspect the connector and the wiring loom for signs of chafing, rubbing, or shorting to the tractor's chassis.
Repair Wiring
If the wiring is damaged and shorting to ground, repair or replace the affected section of the harness.
Replace the Switch
If the wiring is intact and tests fine, the switch itself is likely suffering from an internal short causing the high amp draw. Remove and replace the faulty switch.
Clear Codes
After repairing the wiring or replacing the switch, clear the fault codes from the TECU to verify the repair was successful.
Parts you might need
(1)Auxiliary Valve Switch / Hydraulic Spool Valve Switch
Ensure you identify whether the switch is located on the armrest controls or the fender before ordering the replacement part from your Massey Ferguson dealer.
