Massey Ferguson 04.0.12 – Transmission Controller (TRANS or TRANS1): Reverse Clutch Solenoid Amp Draw Issue
Issue description
The transmission controller continuously measures the current (amp) draw from the reverse clutch solenoid circuit. If the current draw falls below or exceeds the expected limit, it indicates that the circuit is open, shorted to ground, or has lost its power supply.

Check the cause
Verify the battery voltage using a multimeter (should be around 12.6V). Low system voltage can cause false solenoid amp draw codes.
Trace the wiring harness from the TRANS controller to the reverse clutch solenoid. Look for chafed wires, open circuits, or shorts to ground.
Disconnect the reverse clutch solenoid and inspect the connector pins for corrosion, moisture, or damage.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance across the reverse clutch solenoid coil. If the coil is internally shorted or open (infinite resistance), the solenoid must be replaced.
Verify that the reverse clutch solenoid is actually receiving voltage from the controller when the reverse shuttle is engaged.
