Massey Ferguson 04.0.92 – TRANS: Issue With Speed Sensor Values (TRANS)

The transmission control system is detecting an implausible, missing, or out-of-range signal from one of the transmission speed sensors (such as the theoretical forward speed sensor, intermediate speed sensor, or input shaft speed sensor).

   Check the sensor status using the Massey Ferguson WINTEST software to verify which specific transmission sensor is dropping the signal

   Unplug the sensor and measure its resistance with a multimeter while the tractor is stopped. A healthy inductive speed sensor should read 450 Ohms (+/- 20 Ohms)

   Check for an alternating voltage (AC) signal coming from the sensor when the internal gear/ring gear is rotating

   Inspect the wiring harness, contacts, and connections for damage, corrosion, or loose pins, which frequently cause intermittent signal drops

   Remove the Old Sensor

   Disconnect the wiring harness and unscrew the faulty sensor from the transmission housing.

   Prepare the New Sensor

   Apply a small amount of thread sealant (such as Loctite 5922) to the threads of the new sensor.

   Set the Air Gap

   Fully screw the sensor in by hand until it bottoms out directly against the internal gear. Carefully unscrew the sensor by exactly ¾ of a turn to establish the correct air gap.

   Secure the Sensor

   Tighten the counter-nut to approximately 6 Nm to lock the sensor in place.

   System Reset

   To reset the system and clear the active restriction, move the PowerControl lever to the neutral position, then press and release the clutch pedal.
