   Verify if a new transmission controller was recently installed but not calibrated, or if a recent calibration attempt was aborted or exited before completion.

   Cycle the tractor's ignition to run the startup self-test. If the code immediately returns, it confirms the parameters are missing or the memory has failed.

   Check for associated voltage or sensor codes (e.g., 04.0.17 for low supply voltage) that might be causing the module to drop its memory.

   Perform the Transmission Controller Calibration Procedure

   Using the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface or a dealer service tool, initiate the full transmission calibration procedure (this calibrates the pedal, valve, and load defaults).

   Complete the Process

   Ensure the calibration is not exited prematurely. Follow all on-screen prompts until the system confirms a successful calibration.

   Test for Memory Failure

   Cycle the key off and back on. If the 04.0.FF code returns immediately after a successful calibration, the transmission controller has a failed internal memory (it cannot save the parameters).

   Replace the Module

   If the memory has failed, remove the faulty transmission controller and install a replacement unit.

   Recalibrate

   A newly installed transmission controller is blank and will immediately throw this code. You must perform the Transmission Controller Calibration Procedure on the new module before the tractor will operate correctly.
