Massey Ferguson 04.00.05 – TRANS: Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 Signal Voltage Issue

Issue description

This code indicates that the electronic control system has detected an abnormal signal voltage from Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2. The fault typically points to an 8.5 V supply error, an open circuit, or a short in the sensor's signal circuit.

Check the cause

  1. Verify that the sensor is receiving the correct 8.5 V reference voltage

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the Transmission Control Module and the X34 sensor for chafed wires, corrosion in the connector pins, or signs of a short-to-ground/short-to-power

  3. Ensure the connector is firmly seated and free of moisture or hydraulic fluid ingress

Repair steps

  1. Park and secure the tractor

Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the hand brake or ParkLock.

  2. Relieve system pressure

Relieve any residual pressure in the transmission/hydraulic system according to standard safety procedures.

  3. Locate the sensor

Locate Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 (X34) on the transmission housing.

  4. Disconnect the sensor

Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.

  5. Remove the sensor

Unscrew and remove the faulty sensor.

  6. Install the new sensor

Install the new sensor and tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  7. Perform transmission calibration

A transmission calibration procedure MUST be carried out systematically after changing the transmission high pressure sensor. Preliminary conditions for calibration: Hand brake applied or ParkLock engaged; Power Control lever in the neutral position; High/low speed range (Hare/Tortoise) in neutral (symbols should flash alternately on the right-hand screen).

  8. Clear fault code and test

Clear the 04.00.05 fault code using a diagnostic tool and test drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return.
